Designer Cat Collars
It's interesting the way people relate to
their pets. The buying of designer cat collars
is one way you can tell a lot about a person.
Generally there are two types of pet owners. The less
involved cat owner has this pet possibly because a child or
spouse wanted it, or simply because it just seems like the
thing to do. After all, everyone owns a cat. The other type of
pet owners treats their cat like a member of the family.
Breaking it down even farther, the second group consists of
those that still realize their cat is an animal, and those that
think their pet is a person. If you like to observe people you
will truly enjoy watching people in the latter group.
Where we live there is a mix of the extremely wealthy and
your basic middle class. One of our wealthiest neighbors owns
several cats, some pure bread, and some common mixed breeds.
Every one of these cats wears, among other things, designer cat
collars. They also wear sweaters to stay warm in the winter.
They have their own exercise area in the yard. Since this area
is in direct view of our kitchen I'm treated to a kitty fashion
show almost nightly.
Here's the thing about these cats. They are social, pleasant
and just a joy to be around. Approach them and they will
approach you back. You can pet them and pick them up without
them backing away. I'm sure this has everything to do with the
way they are treated in this family.
Anyway, one day as I looked out the window I noticed
something glistening off the cats. It was, of course, their new
designer cat collars. Naturally I went to visit my neighbor to
tell her the jewels and rhinestones had caught my eye. She
explained that she ordered them through a pet catalog and they
just got there that very day. The collars all had a tag made of
gold with the pet's name engraved on it.
We had a pleasant time together as we talked about our pets.
But I left feeling my cats might be a little jealous of her wel
accessorized pets.
